Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) will host a free paper shredding event on Saturday, Nov. 4, from 9-11 a.m. in the Franklin Township Building parking lot, located at 897 State Route 288, Fombell.
Free on-site document shredding will be provided by Iron City Workplace Services.
“We all know that identity theft is a growing problem both locally and across the country,” said Bernstine. “Now, more than ever, we need to protect our private information and make sure it is destroyed properly. We are pleased to provide residents with a secure way to shred large amounts of personal documents.”
Residents who plan on taking advantage of the service should note:
- No large binder clips or hardbound covers will be accepted.
- Materials more than 1 inch thick will need to be broken down prior to being put through the machine. Staff will be available to assist.
- Materials may be transported to the event in boxes, bags or plastic tubs; however, only paper and cardboard will be handled by the shredding company.
- There is a limit of four boxes, or the equivalent, per vehicle.
No advance registration is required to participate in the event. For more information, residents should visit RepBernstine.com or Facebook.com/RepBernstine, or call Bernstine’s office at (724) 752-2120.
