Nickolas Palagallo, 90, of New Beaver Boro passed away Friday, October 20, 2017 at the Butler Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
Born November 8, 1926 in Wampum, he was the son of the late Anthony and Mary Colao Palagallo. He was married for 65 years to his beloved wife, Phyllis Leopardo Palagallo who survives.
Nick retired in 1988 after working for 42 years at Medusa Cement Company. He served in the Navy during WWII and was a member of the Wampum American Legion Post 749. Nick’s passion was baseball. He played in the Local American Legion and County Baseball Leagues and was drafted by the New York Giants. He enjoyed taking care of his property and trips to the casino.
In addition to his wife, Phyllis, survivors include two daughters, Brenda (Warren) Ottobre of Westerville, Ohio, Lana (Bob) Brindle of Pickerington, Ohio; four grandchildren, Heather (Gerald) Hoffman, Ryan Ottobre, Stephanie and Eric Brindle; and two great grandchildren, Carter and Avery Hoffman.
The last of his family, Nick was preceded in death by four brothers, Joseph, Orlando, Adam, and Albert Palagallo; and four sisters, Florence Valentino, Jennie Sweikowski, Esther Reynolds, and Anna McCutheon.
Visitation will be held on Monday October 23 from 11 am until the time of the funeral service at 1:30 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, Wampum. Military rites will be offered by the Veterans Honor Guard. Entombment will follow in the Williamsburg Mausoleum in the Beaver Falls Cemetery.
