Last Friday, a teacher from Ellwood City and Beaver Falls squared against each other in a football-tossing challenge, called Alex’s Lemonade Stand, to raise awareness and money for childhood cancer.
The fundraising idea came from Cara Atkinson, leader of the Hope Club at Ellwood City, who said the outcome was definitely worth it and that she hopes to do it again next year.
Ellwood won raising $982 and Beaver Falls raised $502. $300 was raised at the game and Ellwood continued their fundraising all this week to hopefully reach a final goal of $2,000.
