Because of the Opioid addiction and overdose deaths impacting every population in the United States throughout all communities and having no boundaries, racial or economic, Lt. David Kingston of Ellwood City Police Department has joined forces with the Rite Aid Foundation/KidCents Program to do Ellwood City’s part in helping to stop this epidemic.
Many Law Enforcement agencies, including ECPD participate in the national DEA Drug Take Back Program for residents to dispose of their unused or expired prescription medications. Though the program is great, people wonder what they can do with their unused and/or expired prescriptions until the next Take Back Program.
Lt. Kingston was able to secure a grant from the foundation. With the help of the Rite Aid Foundation/KidCents grant that provided a secure and safe receptacle from American Security Cabinets, the Ellwood City Police Department urges you to get these expired and unused prescriptions out of your home, away from your children and into a place where they will be properly disposed of, to prevent dangerous accidents to our children.
The Ellwood City Police Department and the Ellwood City Rite Aid Pharmacy are the first to participate in the Rite Aid Foundation/KidCents program in both Lawrence County and Beaver County, and are hopeful more Law Enforcement Agencies and Rite Aid Pharmacies will take advantage of this program in the hope of ending this Opioid addiction problem across our country.
The Ellwood City Police Department KidCents “Safe Medication Disposal” cabinet is located inside the Ellwood City Municipal Building, in front of the Police Department.
Both the Ellwood City Police Department and the Ellwood City Rite Aid urge each of you to do your part in helping to end this Opioid addiction that has taken over our communities and devastating families throughout the United States.
