Andrew Kindle, Treasurer of the Ellwood City United Fund, presented a check to Ricki Coccia, Director of Ellwood Family Center as the first disbursement of collected funds for the year 2017.
“All agencies will receive 20% less because of the shortfall in the 2017 campaign,” Kindle said.
The United Fund had discussed holding the money for a later disbursement date, but decided that it would cause a hardship on the agencies who really need the funds.
Kevin Green, CEO/Ex Dir of City Rescue Mission, agreed and stated, “we thank you for the recent gift(allotment), it will be put to good use in ministering to the hungry, hurting people who are struggling with life. By providing food, shelter, clothing, and other needs, you are offering people hope and a way to deal with their daily struggles.”
The Ellwood City United Fund provides funds to the following agencies:

- Lark Enterprises

- Human Services(Unicenter)
- Ellwood City Area Public Library
Board President Connie MacDonald, re-iterates the feelings of Kevin Green and states, “the donations to the United Fund from the community helps the people of Ellwood City, the money stays in the area, it can make a big differences in peoples lives and give them hope.”
The second disbursement of funds are planned for December 10th, 2017.
