Ellwood City Man Facing Attempted Homicide Charge

According to the criminal complaint, on June 17, 2017 officers arrived to a residence on Portersville Road for a report of a domestic dispute. The victim advised that her fiancee, whom she lives with, Raemond Albert Wright, 34, of Ellwood City, had assaulted her during a verbal argument. She said that Wright had grabbed her and threw her around the kitchen then threw her down and started choking her to the point of losing consciousness. The victim said that while she was being choked the defendant told her multiple times he was going to kill her. A physical examination showed injuries consistent with her statements, revealing scratch marks and bruising around her neck, chin, and back. Due to the severity of the injuries and threats, a warrant for his arrest has been issued and Wright will be facing the following felony charges of one count of attempted homicide, one count of aggravated assault, and one count of strangulation, and misdemeanors of making terroristic threats and simple assault.

 

Man Facing DUI Charge After Struggling to Start Motorcycle

According to the criminal complaint on June 18, 2017 an Ellwood City officer observed a man sitting on top of a 2014 Harley Davidson that was laying on its side in the McDonald’s parking lot. John A. Abel, 46, of Wexford, told the officer he had two beers earlier in the evening. An employee at McDonald’s told the officer that as she was leaving work around 2a.m. she saw Abel struggling to get his motorcycle started in the parking lot. She said that she did not observe him entering the parking lot but she did see him attempt to start the motorcycle and then drop it on its side. The officer received video footage from McDonald’s. Blood results show Abel’s BAC was .230 at approximately 2:40a.m. Abel is now facing two charges of driving under the influence.

 

Drunk Driving Accident on Fourth Street

According to the criminal complaint, on June 21 at approximately 11:40p.m. officers were dispatched to Fourth Street near Beaver Avenue for a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival officers noticed a 1997 Honda Civic with heavy front end damage and the driver attempting to start the car. A witness stated that she saw the vehicle travel north on Fourth Street and crossed over the railroad tracks near Beaver Avenue, striking a utility pole. Officers identified the driver as Jason Floyd Fotia, 31, of Ellwood City, and asked him to perform sobriety tests and took him to the hospital for a blood test. The results showed Fotia’s BAC at .143 and he is now facing two charges of driving under the influence.
