Tiffin University right-hander Michael Boswell finished his rookie campaign with five wins in 11 appearances, helping the Dragons post their best winning percentage in program history.
For his efforts, Boswell was named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Freshman Pitcher of the Year, the first time a Tiffin player has ever taken the award.
Boswell finished second on the team in innings and wins, and averaged 8.02 strikeouts per nine innings. Michael surrendered only 14 bases on balls in 46 innings pitched, and averaged the second most innings pitched per appearances. Boswell’s five wins are tied for second most in a single season since Tiffin has been competing at the NCAA Division II level.
The former Riverside Panther baseball standout, Boswell notably had a 40 inning scoreless streak and was responsible for three of the four shutouts thrown by Riverside during its 2016 WPIAL Championship run.
