Ellwood City Area Chamber of Commerce Participates in Pennsylvania Small Business Week

Ellwood City, PA – In recognition of the small business community’s significant contributions to Pennsylvania’s economy, the week of April 30-May 6, 2017 will be celebrated as Pennsylvania Small Business Week. Ellwood City Area Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, will celebrate entrepreneurs and small business owners for their contributions to Pennsylvania’s economy, and draw attention to the resources available to support them.

Pennsylvania is home to one million small businesses, and employs 2.5 million individuals – about half of the state’s private workforce. Small businesses play a vital role in Pennsylvania’s economy, accounting for 99.6 percent of businesses in the state. Their economic impact is evident across a variety of business sectors in the state, ranging from professional services, retail, construction, and health care to manufacturing, education and beyond.

Ellwood City Area Chamber of Commerce is comprised of 370 member businesses and non-profits who participate in town events which assist in boosting economic development. The Ellwood City Public Library is a prime example of a non-profit that is a great community participant in Ellwood City. The library provides educational tools and programs for adults and children. Over 200 visitors walk through the doors of the library per day and approximately 1300 people per month reserve the computers. While visitors are at the library, many walk down the block to shop, get a coffee, or go to a local eatery. The Ellwood City Area Chamber of Commerce is proud of all of our small businesses and non-profits who are revitalizing downtown Ellwood City.

Small business owners and entrepreneurs can also participate in DCED’s Small Business Web Series and other educational programs across the state. Each free webinar in the series will be presented by experienced business experts.
