In a rematch of last year’s WPIAL semifinal, the Lady Wolverines traveled to Homestead on Tuesday afternoon and once again came away with a hard fought victory. They are now 4-0 on the season and in sole possession of first place in the section with a record of 3-0.
Skyla Greco was dominant in the circle as she tossed a two hitter. The fireballing senior struck out a season high 15 and walked 4. She was constantly ahead in the count with 19 out of 28 first pitch strikes. Her command was also on point as 75 of her 110 pitches were strikes. She is a perfect 4-0 on the season with a sparkling ERA of 1.91.
The offense was balanced once again as 5 players contributed 8 hits to the attack. They put pressure on the defense all game long as they struck out just once as a team. Slick fielding centerfielder Anna Ferrucci led the way with 3 hits including a double while also scoring once. Ariana Garroway contributed 2 singles, had an rbi and also scored once. She also added a stolen base as she hit from the leadoff spot for the second consecutive game. Left fielder Brooklyn Magill stayed hot with the bat as she added an RBI triple into the right center field gap and also scored a run. Shortstop Natalia Greco had a run scoring single and Breonna Streit rounded out the hit parade with a single and a run scored. Eisabela Miller used her exceptional speed to score a run while Megan Siegfried added a sacrifice bunt and a sacrifice fly.
The team will look to stay unbeaten as the Beaver Falls Tigers will visit Stiefel Park on Thursday evening for another section contest. First pitch is set for 6pm.
