In the section opener for Ellwood City, the Wolverine bats heated up just like the weather.
The offense banged out 13 hits in just 3 innings of work as the game was halted by the mercy rule. Ariana Garroway and Zoe Kalantzis both hit shots that left the yard. Garroway finished the day 3-3 with a 3 run blast, scored twice and totaled 4 rbi’s. Kalantzis went 2-2 with a solo shot, an rbi, and a run scored. Eisabela Miller and Brooklyn Magill each finished with 2 singles. Miller drove in a run and scored twice while Magill drove in 3 and scored twice as well. Sophomore Maura Agostinelli collected her first varsity hit and Anna Ferrucci, Breonna Streit, and Reagan Mittler also added singles. Freshmen Taylor Covert and Madi Krugh collected their first varsity rbi’s while Natalia Greco and Megan Siegfried each scored a run.
Winning pitcher Skyla Greco was rock solid once again as she needed just 47 pitches to get the complete game victory. She fired a two hitter to go along with 5 punchouts without yielding a walk. She was extremely efficient as 32 of her 47 pitches were strikes.
The Lady Wolverines will look to go 2-0 in the section as they will travel to Avonworth on Thursday. First pitch is set for 7pm.
