Lawrence County’s Earth Day Celebration

Lawrence County’s Earth Day Celebration will feature more than 40 educational exhibits, plenty of exciting activities, great entertainment, horse-drawn trolley rides, and a Wild World of Animals show. The event is FREE and will be held on Saturday, April 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Ewing Park. Earth Day is planned and hosted by Ellwood City Community Enrichment and the Lawrence County Earth Day Committee.

The event will feature:

Exhibits: 40-plus educational exhibits or vendor booths by individuals, groups, businesses that will focus on Earth friendly topics/products. Some vendors will be selling products.

Entertainment: The entertainment will be kicked off at 10 a.m. by Noah Rectenwald and other local artists.

Wild World of Animals Show: At 12:00 for an hour on Folino Stage. This well-known show has been featured on national stages such as David Letterman. The show is sponsored in part by McElwain’s Paint & Collision Center.

Trashion Show: NEW THIS YEAR! Lawrence County Earth Day presents the first Trashion Show at 1:00pm on Folino Stage. Featuring contestants wearing their garment created from trash and recyclables. First, second, and third places receive cash prizes! Email info@ellwoodchamber.org or call 724-758-5501 to enter. The Trashion Show is sponsored by The Car Wash of Ellwood City and Good Wheels.

Disposal stations: Disposal stations will be located throughout the park. These stations include a compostable can, recyclable can, and a trash can. We are striving to educate the public about proper disposal, (each station will have a volunteer to help attendees know what can be recycled and what to place in the trash) as well as minimize the amount of trash this year.

This event is made possible by many volunteers and generous sponsorships. INMETCO will provide refreshments using compostable paper products. They will also have a giveaway. The event is also sponsored by Ellwood City area businesses and individuals including: Armstrong Cable, Lawrence County Commissioners, Katy’s Baked Goods, T&M Hardware and Rental, Aiken Refuse, Dalton Service Company LLC, Medevac Ambulance, and Ellwood Group Inc., and Blank Concrete & Supply. This event has also been made possible by The Caroline Knox Memorial Trust Fund.
