CCBC Named to Pennsylvania Business Centrak’s “Top 100 Organizations” List

Monaca, PA – Pennsylvania Business Central, a business and economic development publication that serves 23 counties throughout central Pennsylvania, has named Community College of Beaver County (CCBC) to its Top 100 Organizations List in recognition of the college’s contributions to community and economic development.

 Pennsylvania Business Central solicits nominations from readers and consults with chambers of commerce to gather a pool of potential candidates for the Top 100 list of honorees. The newspaper’s editorial board ultimately selects the final 100.

“It has always been Pennsylvania Business Central’s pleasure to welcome the new year by honoring 100 organizations in our readership that continue to strengthen our region’s B2B marketplace,” said Spencer Myers, editor, as the list was announced. “This year, we saw a record number of nominations come in from every corner of our readership. While this makes it harder for us to decide on the final 100, it lets us rest easy in knowing that the final list better represents the businesses serving our readership and keeping our state moving forward.”

The companies and organizations were selected based on three core components: consistent growth, commitment to honest business practices, and community giving. When analyzed against all three criteria, the list consists of 100 organizations that are proud of and responsible for growing the economy of the Commonwealth.

to promote the welfare of the Commonwealth, and we find ourselves in very good company with many fine and respected Pennsylvania organizations named in this year’s publication of honorees,” said Dr. Chris Reber, CCBC president. “Education and workforce development are integral to realizing our shared vision for a renaissance of opportunity in Beaver County, our region, and throughout the entire state. CCBC is proud to be contributing to this exceedingly important work.”

When crafting profiles, each company or organization was asked what they felt their responsibility to their community was and what they consider to be their proudest moment.

Below are CCBC’s answers to those questions:

What do you feel is your company’s or organization’s responsibility to the community?

CCBC takes the word “community” in our title very seriously. As a result, it is the college’s responsibility to ensure that CCBC contributes substantively to the vitality of Beaver County and all of Southwestern Pennsylvania through innovative teaching; dynamic workforce development initiatives; and community, regional and statewide service and engagement. CCBC’s goals are to provide leadership and service, partnerships and preparation, expansion and innovation, and connections and engagement in order to elevate causes and activities that serve our region and its people and that address high priority workforce needs.

 What has been your company or organization’s proudest moment?

Above all, the college community is proudest that over 125,000 students have attended CCBC during the course of our 50-year history. Many of our alumni are working and leading at home in Beaver County, throughout the region, and, in the case of our nationally renowned aviation programs, the world.

Nominees are selected annually from 23 counties in Central Pennsylvania, including Beaver, Bedford, Blair, Bradford, Cambria, Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, Fayette, Greene, Huntingdon, Indiana, Juniata, Lycoming, Mifflin, Northumberland, Snyder, Somerset, Susquehanna, Tioga, Union, Washington and Westmoreland counties.
