Ellwood City Area Public Library Activities for Week of March 6, 2017

Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following:

Tuesday, March 7, at 10:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. — Family Laptime, an interactive program for babies as young as 6 months of age to toddlers and preschoolers. Featured are stories, songs, finger plays, games and more. Registration is requested, so call the library at 724-758-6458 for more information.

Wednesday, March 8, at 10:00 a.m. — “Coloring for Adults,” a weekly program that is free and open to the public. “Coloring for Adults” is a new concept in helping to reduce the stresses of everyday life. Everyone is welcome, so call the library at 724-758-6458 for more information.

Thursday, March 9, at 10:00 a.m. — Spring Preschool Story Time designed for preschoolers who are 3 years of age and up. The weekly program features stories, songs, finger plays, games and more. Registration is requested, so call the library now for more information.

Thursday, March 9, at 3:00 p.m. – “Hooked on Books,” a book discussion group for students in 6th through 8th grades. The group will discuss the book, “The Book Thief,” by Markus Zusak. Call the library for more information.

Thursday, March 9, at 6:00 p.m. — Adult Knitting Group meets at the library each week. Members provide their own materials and work on individual projects. Call the library for more information.

The library will host a gardening program, presented by the Master Gardeners in Lawrence County, at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21. Featured will be the topic, “Nature’s Gardening Techniques,” featuring environmentally friendly ways to work with nature instead of against her. There is a $5 fee to attend, and those interested are asked to pre-register by calling either 724-654-8370 or the library at 724-758-6458. for more information. Another spring session will be held on April 18 on the topic of “Sit-Down Gardening.”

The “Movie Night for Adults” in March will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29. Featured are new-to-DVD films and refreshments. These monthly events are free and open to all area adults. Call the library for more information or to discover the title of the film to be shown.

“Silly Saturdays” will continue to be held the first Saturday of each month, and children from kindergarten through 6th grade are invited to participate. Featured will be “Legos and Silly Science Experiments.” The idea is to offer engineering and science activities in a fun way. Those interested in participating are asked to call the library to register.

An “American Girl Picnic” is planned for Saturday, April 29, at the library. Reservations are required for one of the three sessions scheduled – 10:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Those attending are invited to take either their American Girl doll or another doll  or another of their favorite dolls.
