Mary Shapiro, 88, of Ellwood City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, February 7, 2017 in UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.
She was born in New Castle on May 23 1928 to the late Frank and Julia Soup Kerestly.
Mary enjoyed decorating, especially her home, and flower arranging. She enjoyed holiday get togethers, and she especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Lawrence Shapiro, who died April 7 2006, and by her first husband, Dan Boy.
She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Evan Hawken Boy on Feb. 25, 2016.
She is survived by her three sons: Dan Boy of Ligonier PA; Tom Boy of New Castle; and Ron Boy of Boyers PA.
Also surviving are her stepchildren, Marc (and Randi) Shapiro of Atlanta GA; and Bobbie (and Gene) Katz of Naples FL.
Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive.
She was the last of her family, as she was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters: Charles, Frank, Louis, and George Kerestly; and Lida Rhodes, Rose Simon, and Madeline Joseph.
Friends will be received from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 11, 2017 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME, 500 6th Street, Ellwood City.
Services will be conducted at TURNERS on Saturday , Feb. 11 , at 1:00 P. M.
Burial will be in Locust Grove Cemetery, North Sewickley.
Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Ellwood City Area Public Library or to the donors’ favorite charity.
