Recently sworn-in State Representative, Aaron Bernstine, released the following information about his progress in the community:
“I wanted to take this opportunity to provide my supporters and constituents with an update on what has been happening since the election.
We have BIG issues to fix in Harrisburg. Government spending must not only be stopped, but cut. Until meaningful pension reform is enacted, money will continue to drain from our schools. The 9.9% corporate income tax rate – the second highest in the nation – strangles the growth of Pennsylvania businesses. These issues impact you on a daily basis, and I have been engaged in discussion with my colleagues regarding the comprehensive solutions that must be instituted to resolve them.
I am also committed to improving the lives on my constituents here at home. My primary objectives continue to be: job growth, the revitalization of Hereford Manor Lake, and fixing the monopolistic Ellwood Electric issue that is negatively impacting many of my constituents.
JOBS – I have been collaborating with local, regional, and national developers to cultivate “pad ready” sites for manufacturing and commercial companies within the 10th District. In the near future, a job fair will be held in order to connect constituents in need of jobs to businesses in the surrounding area. Participating employers will sponsor this event at no cost to the taxpayers.
HEREFORD MANOR – I have organized a bi-partisan alliance of Representatives and Senators from Lawrence, Beaver, and Butler Counties that are committed to ensuring repair of the dam so the lake can be reopened. Historically, Hereford Manor attracted 11,000 visitors annually, resulting in an economic impact in excess of $12 million. A letter has been sent to the Governor’s Office requesting release of the previously-approved funds. Repairing Hereford Manor will enable our region to grow and experience an economic boom! ELLWOOD ELECTRIC – Ellwood City remains one of the largest municipalities in the 10th District and is home to a borough-owned electric company. Residents are required to purchase their electricity from Ellwood Electric, and are not free to choose their supplier like nearly all other Pennsylvania residents. I am actively developing the legislation and establishing the backing required to address this issue.
After just a few short weeks in Harrisburg, I am optimistic we will find resolutions to these three issues. I have garnered support from other Representatives, and most importantly, mobilized people like you – who are passionate about seeing the 10th District thrive – to put pressure on the government to do their will.
There is much work to do! I appreciate your continued support as I aggressively pursue this agenda on behalf of my 65,000 bosses.
God Bless,
Aaron”
