Mayor Anthony Court presented a commendation to Samuel Teolis, owner and respected Director of Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory after 61 years as a Funeral Director in the Ellwood City area.
Mr. Teolis’s basement of the funeral home recently became a member of the PA Museums Association, it is a museum of 19th Century America and the WWI and WWII.
Teolis served on the Ellwood City Area School board for 6 years, he served as Mayor for 4 years, he was appointed Lawrence County Deputy Coroner in 1955 and served for 38 years. He has served on the Veterans Honor Guard since 1956 and a funeral director since 1950, remaining active in the funeral profession and cremation services.
Mr. Teolis is also one of the founders of the Red Cross Blood Bank.

As Mayor, I commend you for your strong service in the community as a wonderful husband and father and business man. You are to be commended for your representation to our community as a former Mayor, a 6 Year School Board member, and as Deputy Corner for 38 years. Your Funeral service for the past 61 years is a true cornerstone in our city, growing with the opening of the Crematory in 2015. You have shown the youth of tomorrow that with hard work and perseverance, they will succeed in their dreams. You show them, by your actions that they must live their lives helping others and giving back to the community and this is how they will succeed in life.
