Activities taking place for the week at the Ellwood City Area Public Library are as follows:
The library is closed on Monday, January 16, in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Holiday. Normal hours will resume on Tuesday, January 17.
Tuesday, January 17, at 1:30 p.m. – Afternoon Book Discussion Group for Adults. The group will discuss the book, “Montana 1948,” by Larry Watson. New members are always welcome, so call the library at 724-758-6458 for more information.
Wednesday, January 18, at 10:00 a.m. — “Coloring for Adults,” a weekly program that is free and open to the public. “Coloring for Adults” is a new concept in helping to reduce the stresses of everyday life. Everyone is welcome, so call the library for more information.
Wednesday, January 18, at 3:00 p.m. – Creative Writing Workshop for students in 7th grade and up. The group meets twice each month to share their work and discuss writing tips and techniques. Call the library for more information.
Thursday, January 19, at 3:00 p.m. – “Just 4 Girls,” a book discussion group for girls in 9th grade and up. The group will discuss the book, “Under the Lights,” by Abbi Glines. Call the library for more information.
Thursday, January 19, at 6:00 p.m. — Adult Knitting Group. The group meets weekly at the library with members working on individual projects and providing their own materials. New members are always welcome, so call the library for more information.
Advance tickets for the “Winter Wine and Brew Fest,” scheduled for January 28 at the Sons of Italy Hall on Lawrence Ave. can be purchased at the library at a cost of $20 per person. Tickets purchased at the door will cost $25. The catered event will also feature entertainment and a cash bar. All proceeds will benefit Ellwood City Revitalization. The library will host a “Groundhog Day” Party on Thursday February 2, at 6:30 p.m. All area children and their families might want to consider crawling out of their cozy winter burrows for an evening of crafts, books, songs and snacks!! Call the library to register! More information is on the way!
There will be no “Movie Night for Adults” in January. Plans are to resume the Movie Nights in February. Call the library at the end of this month for more information or for a schedule of the dates and films to be shown.
Plans for library winter and spring activities for young and older alike are under way, so call the library toward the end of January for a list of all that’s happening
