Five Wolverine wrestlers were victorious in their final matches at the Midwestern Athletic Conference Tournament, which was held January 6-7 at Hopewell High School.
In championship matches, at the 132 pound weight class – Ellwood City’s Tyler Alberts collected a major decision and victory over Jake Pail, Freedom, 8-0.
In third-place consolation matches, at 120-pound weight class – Tyler Baird was victorious by decision over Nick Reconnu, Montour, 5-1. In the 145 weight class – Austin Walley, Ellwood City used a major decision to beat Austin Dohl, Quaker Valley, 17-3.
In fifth-place consolation matches, Wolverine Jake Alberts was victorious by injury default over Noah Hunkele, Mars, in the 106-pound weight class.
And finally in seventh-place consolation matches, in the 113 pound weight class, Mat King, Ellwood City dec. Alex Chen, Mars, 7-5.
