Santa came early to the Jones household, located in Ewing Park, this year.
The Jolly Man himself and his helpers from the Safe Step Tub Company, a family owned Tennessee based establishment, came to deliver and install a very good boy’s Christmas gift – a Safe Step Tub.
After suffering with Rheumatoid Arthritis nearly his whole life, 12 year old Noah Jones, the son of Jaime and Torrey Jones, is hopeful to find a wholesome option for relief after receiving the generous donation from the Safe Step Tub company, courtesy of their Care program.
“Safe Step Tub is a company dedicated to catering specifically to the bath-needs of seniors, the disabled, handicapped or anyone with mobility challenges and we are able to accomplish these goals by partnering closely with a manufacturer to produce the best walk-in tubs in the world,” Derek Farley, the company program director, explained.
The tubs hold anywhere from 40-80 gallons of water and are accessible via a watertight walk-in doorway. Included in the tub is a seat made to promote optimum relaxation, including the ability to utilize the built in water and air jets, aroma therapy, mood lights, and heat sources which keep the water warm.
Safe Step started their Care program about three years ago, and since then they have been devoted to donating these elite tubs to persons in need; so far donating nearly 40 tubs with an overall goal of donating one tub per month.
Proceeding the installation of a previous Safe Step donation, another local and friend of Noah who also suffers from Juvenile Arthritis, Mariah Aquino of Patterson Heights, received a tub recently which brought attention to Noah’s story – and from there the company was determined to help him as well.
Noah had received over 50 nominations from friends and family urging the donation of the tub, and his mother Jaime can hardly believe all of the support he received.
“I’m overwhelmed with emotions, I’m grateful, shocked, and extremely excited. I can’t believe this is happening, I’m so grateful for all of the professional and kind help, and most of all, I hope Noah will benefit from it,” she said.
Conveniently, the tubs design encourages proper circulation, which relaxes muscles so users can feel and sleep better; Noah’s friend and fellow arthritis sufferer, Mariah, claims she has experienced amazing improvements and benefits from her tub – which is keeping the Jones family, friends, and the Safe Step company hopeful Noah will experience the same.
“These are the good parts of my job – it was a pleasure to be here for such a good cause, Noah is my buddy and he comes from a great family. I wish him nothing but the best,” Mayor Anthony Court, who was in attendance at the household, stated.
As Noah patiently awaits the completed installation, he said he’s really excited and very thankful to the Safe Step company for their donation.
There will be a video segment of the event airing tonight on Channel 11 News between 5-6:30p.m.
