William J. “Bud” Latimer, 86

William J. “Bud” Latimer, 86, of Ellwood City, passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon, December 16 2016 at Northview Estates in Ellwood City.
He was born January 23 1930 to the late Harry L. and Myrtle McDeavitt Latimer, in Ellwood City.
He graduated from Lincoln High School in Ellwood City, with the class of 1948. He received a Bachelors degree in English in 1952 from Geneva College, and a Masters in Education from Westminster College in 1960.
He taught 11th grade English at Lincoln High School from 1955-1962, and was a guidance counselor from 1962-1967. From 1967-1991, he was a Training and Development Manager for Babcock & Wilcox Corp (B&W).
Bud was a past board member of the Ellwood City Chamber of Commerce, and was its president in 1980.
He was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Ellwood City, where he served on the financial committee. Bud enjoyed golfing, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
He was preceded in death recently by his wife of 67 years, Dawna L. Kemp Latimer, who died October 2, 2016. .
One son and daughter-in-law survive, William Russell “Russ” (and Rosemary I.) Latimer of Ellwood City. He is also survived by grandchildren: Rachelle and Robert Rozzo of Ellwood City; Dustin and Jennifer Latimer of New Brighton; and Sean and Crystal Latimer of Ellwood City. Four great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by one daughter, Sharyn “Shari” Latimer, who died September 2, 1992.
No visitation or services are planned.
The TURNER FUNERAL HOME, 500 6th Street, Ellwood City, is entrusted with the arrangements.
Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Pennsylvania Association for the Blind (pablind.org)
