George W. Lesnett, 90, of West Park Road, Portersville, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 28 2016 at the Butler VNA Hospice in Butler.
He was born near New Castle on October 6 1926 to the late William Lesnett and the late Jane Lesnett Kellam. He was raised by his stepfather, the late Harry Kellam.
He attended the former Ellport Church of the Nazarene.
George worked as a grinder for 26 years at Portersville Stainless Equipment Co. , and later at
Portersville Sales and Testing Co.
George belonged to Life-Butler the past 5 years. He enjoyed gardening, and tinkering and fixing almost anything. His family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren were his love.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Florence E. Lewis Lesnett, who died December 9 2011. They were married on October 26 1948.
He is survived by six daughters and two sons: Shirley Hafer of New Castle; Clara Lesnett of Portersville; Joanne (and Larry) Heasley of New Castle; Carol Davis of Butler; George (and Stacy) Lesnett Jr. of Erie; Richard (and Lynn) Lesnett of Portersville; and Debbie (and Norman) Cearfoss Jr. of Ellwood City, and Joyce Lesnett, of Edinburg.
Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive.
He is also survived by one brother and one sister: Roy Lesnett, and Bessie Heckathorne, both of New Castle.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, James Lesnett in 2015, and one brother, Elmer, and two sisters: Mary Geyer, and Betty Lefever.
Friends will be received from 6-8 P.M. on Sunday, October 30 2016 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME, 500 Sixth Street, Ellwood City. Additional visiting will be from 10-11 A.M. on Monday at TURNERS.
Services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, October 31 at the TURNER FUNERAL HOME.
Burial will be in Portersville Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Portersville.
