Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following:
Tuesday, November 1, at 10:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. — Family Laptime, an interactive program designed for babies as young as 6 months old and preschoolers up to 5 years old. The program, which runs through November 22, features stories, songs, finger plays and more. Registration is requested, so call the library at 724-758-6458 for more information.
Tuesday, November 1, at 3:00 p.m. — Creative Writing Workshop for students in 7th grade and up. The group meets twice each month to share their work and discuss writing tips and techniques. New members are always welcome, so call the library for more information.
Wednesday, November 2, at 10:00 a.m. — “Coloring for Adults,” a weekly program that is free and open to the public. “Coloring for Adults” is a new concept in helping to reduce the stresses of everyday life. Everyone is welcome, so call the library for more information.
Wednesday, November 2, at 6:30 p.m. – Evening Book Discussion Group for Adults. The group will discuss the book, “Desire Lines,” by Christina Baker Kline. Call the library for more information.
Thursday, November 3, at 10:00 a.m. — Preschool Story Time, designed for children 3 years of age and older. Featured are stories, songs, finger plays and more. Registration is requested, so call the library for more information.
Thursday, November 3, at 3:00 p.m. – “Hooked on Books,” a book discussion group for students in 6th through 8th grades. The group will discuss the book, “Liar & Spy,” by Rebecca Stead. New members are always welcome, so call the library for more information.
Thursday, November 3, at 6:00 p.m. — Adult Knitting Group meets at the library weekly. Members work on individual projects and provide their own materials. New members are always welcome, so call the library for more information.
Saturday, November 5, at the Connoquenessing Country Club – “Annual Literary Luncheon,” featuring a hot-meal lunch, literary centerpiece contest, door prizes, great company and more. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. and lunch is served promptly at Noon. Tickets are only available in advance at the library at a cost of $25 each. Gather some friends together and take part in a fun afternoon. Call the library for tickets or for more information.
Saturday, November 5, at 12:00 Noon – “Twenty-Something Book Discussion Group,” designed for college-aged students and people in their twenties. The group will discuss the book, “Dorothy Must Die,” by Danielle Paige. New members are always welcome, so call the library for more information.
Saturday, November 5, at 2:00 p.m. — A “Family Movie Event,” designed for area children and their families. Children ages 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Full-length feature films are shown and refreshments are served. Another “Family Movie Event” is scheduled for Saturday, December 3. Call the library for more information.
The library will be closed on Friday, November 11, in observance of the Veterans’ Day Holiday. Normal hours will resume on Saturday, November 12.
Saturday, November 12, from 1 to 3 p.m. — “Star Wars Day,” featuring the Storm Troopers of the 501st Legion (plus a very special guest) will be held. A program by the Storm Troopers, photo ops, games, contests and much more will be featured. All Star Wars fans of every age should mark their calendars now!
