HOMECOMING: Panthers Secure Playoff Spot With Friday Night Victory

For the Riverside Panthers, Friday night’s 28-26 victory over North Catholic was twice as nice as it secured second place in the Midwestern Athletic Conference and a home WPIAL Class 2A playoff berth as well as cemented a tone of revenge for last year’s blowout loss to the Trojans.

The Panthers (5-2 overall, 5-1 conference) used the big play – 95-yard kick off return by LeMarcus Cleckley – as well as a clutch play – a 19-yard fourth-down pass from Ben Hughes to Austin Dambach – to stay in front of the visiting Trojans.

The game came down to a late 2-point conversion that was snuffed out by the Panther defense.  After the Trojans recovered an onside kick with less than two minutes to play, the Panthers forced a fumble and recovered it to wrap up the victory.

The Riverside Panthers football team has a home non-conference game vs. rival Ellwood City Friday at 7:00pm.

HOMECOMING: Jordan Henry was crowned Riverside High School 2016 Homecoming Queen.  The Homecoming Court included Heliosa Mosconi, Rebekah Bettencourt, Emily Smalley, Lynsie House, Melanie Kaufman, Sierra Chesko, and Henry.
