Willard F. Deemer, 91

Willard F. Deemer, 91, of Glenkirk Road, New Galilee, (New Beaver Boro), passed away peacefully at his home on Friday morning, October 14 2016.
He was born in Ellwood City on April 13 1925 to the late Ralph and Marie Francis Deemer. He attended Lincoln High School in Ellwood City, and then served in the US Navy during World War II.      He was a Pearl Harbor survivor, and an aviation ordnanceman aboard the USS Cabot, an aircraft carrier involved in many battles and invasions of islands in the South Pacific theatre, including the Philippines and Solomon Islands until the Japanese surrender in 1945. He was a life member of VFW and American Legion #157.
Willard also was a faithful lifetime member of his church, First Christian Church of Ellwood City, where he belonged to the GWO class and Speeders.
He worked at Freeman Buick in Ellwood City,  Clem’s RV Sales, and later he owned his own shop, Will’s Auto Body in Ellwood City.
He was a lifetime member of the North Sewickley Vol. Fire Department.
Willard also belonged to the Ellwood City Saxons, AARP, and the Ellwood-Wampum Rod and Gun Club.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman, who loved his family and his church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Evelyn Peters Deemer, whom he married June 21 1947.
He is also survived by two daughters and one son: Linda (and John) Norge of New Galilee; Cynthia (and Charles) Boltinghouse of Florence AZ; and Willard Ralph (and Terrie) Deemer of Tempe AZ.
Five grandchildren survive, and seven great grandchildren.
Willard is also survived by one sister, Lois Bleakney in Indiana; and one brother, Gerald (and Sally) Deemer of Mesa AZ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Clifford Deemer and James Davis.
Friends will be received from 6-8 P.M. on Tuesday, October 18 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME, 500 Sixth Street, Ellwood City.
Services will be conducted at TURNERS on Wednesday, October 19 at 11:00 A.M. with Thomas A. O’Brien, Minister of First Christian Church, officiating.
Burial will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Pittsburgh.
Full military honors will be observed at TURNERS by the Veterans Honor Guard. Honor Guard members should be at TURNERS at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday.
