CCBC: New Endowed Scholarship

Monaca, PA –NOVA Chemicals is establishing a new endowed scholarship through the CCBC Foundation that will expand access for all students enrolled in the College’s Process Technology program.

The named gift will go a long way in helping the College recruit and train a skilled workforce for Beaver County while providing greater access and opportunity for those students in the community who need it most.

NOVA Chemicals will contribute $60,000 to create the scholarship fund over the next five years.

“We value our continued partnership with NOVA Chemicals and this new opportunity they are providing for underserved populations in our community,” said CCBC President Dr. Chris Reber. “Our core values align well with those of NOVA, and with their support, we are able to provide more students with a quality education to prepare them for family-sustaining careers.”

“At NOVA Chemicals, we are proud to make a difference in our community by partnering with CCBC to help inspire and educate the workforce of the future,” said Brian Fedor, Beaver Valley Plant Manager, NOVA Chemicals. “We’re dedicated to helping prepare students for career opportunities in science, technology, engineering and math fields and we look forward to meeting the first CCBC process technology graduates who have received this cutting-edge education.”

Scholarship applicants must be enrolled full-time in CCBC’s Process Technology program; be in good academic standing and maintain a cumulative 3.0 grade point average (GPA); be entering their first or second year of the program; demonstrate unmet financial need; represent an underrepresented work group; and complete an essay and application.

The scholarship aims to make college more accessible and affordable for underrepresented student groups in the process technology major. At the same time, students who graduate from the program will be career-ready for jobs with family-sustaining wages that are currently in high demand and projected to grow as new industries come to the region.
