Mrs. Lillian F. Bellissimo, 90, of Ellwood City passed away peacefully on Monday, September 12, 2016 in the Ellwood City Hospital.
Mrs. Bellissimo was born on February 3, 1926 in Ellwood City to the late Samuel and Marie Rozzi Pezzi. She is a member of the Lincoln High School class of 1944.
Lil had worked at the Armstrong Cork in Beaver Falls and the Aetna Standard in Ellwood City during WWII, then at Ellwood City Knitting Mill, Dust Proof, Mine Safety and Giant Eagle as a cook. She was a member of the Holy Redeemer Parish, Holy Redeemer Golden Agers, and the Holy Redeemer Christian Mothers, She was a past President for the Christian Mothers. Lillian was a dedicated volunteer of 60 years working at the Holy Redeemer Church Bazaars and the lunch program at Holy Redeemer School, She was also one of the “Original Pizza Ladies” for the church.
Mrs. Bellissimo enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, cooking, playing cards and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren & great-grandchildren. Mrs. Bellissimo is survived by her daughters, Marsha Bellissimo Hall of Ellwood City and Janet & John Smith of Hopewell, her son, Vincent and Tisha Bellissimo of Ellwood City, her four grandchildren, Stacy & David Hamilton, Amy & Ken Gavazzi, Megan & Joe Anderson & Kevin Smith, her eight great-grandchildren, Makeena, Kailyn, Joey, Casey, Reese, Demi, Ava & Ana. She is also survived by her sisters, Clara Melchiore of New Castle, Evelyn Carrozza of Ellwood City and her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Vincent J. Bellissimo Sr. whom she married on July 18, 1946 and passed away on May 9, 2006, her sisters, Mary Bucelli, Rose Carone and Vernie Geary, her brothers, John Pezzi, Charles Pezzi, Louis Pezzi, and Frank Pezzi, and her special nephew, Nick Carone.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3-8 pm in the Samuel Teolis Funeral home, Inc. and Cremation Services. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday at 10:00 am in the Holy Redeemer Church with Father Mark Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Those attending the funeral mass are asked to meet at the funeral home on Thursday by 9:20 am. Members of the Holy Redeemer Christian Mothers are asked to meet at the church on Thursday by 9:50 am to form an honor guard.
Mrs. Bellissimo’s family would like to thank Dr. Mary Ann DiBiagio and her staff, Vitas Hospice and the Ellwood City Hospital staff for the wonderful care they have extended to her. Memorial contributions in Lillian’s name may be made to the Holy Redeemer Angel Fund.
