Christopher Brant is a 17 year old Boy Scout member who attended last nights council meeting and bravely presented his proposed community project to council.
Brant started by introducing himself,
“My name is Christopher Brant and I am a Boy Scout of Troop 806 here in Ellwood City. I am currently a Life Scout and I am working towards my Eagle rank.”
He then proceeded on with why he was seeking their approval for his project,
“One of the requirements (to become an Eagle Scout) is to do a service project for my community.
I would like to build a park bench in front of the Veterans Memorial Pool in the park.
I believe this bench will be beneficial to the pool and the community; it will give students a place to wait for their parents after they are done at the park.”
Brant says that he wants the bench to have a roof and a table for added comfort and weather protection.
He plans on fund raising in order to buy any materials he doesn’t already have for the project and he hopes to have the materials by winter so the bench can be ready by the spring.
The response he got from council was overall very encouraging, Bob Villella and Judy Dici both personally came up to him after the meeting and thanked him for the wonderful idea.
Council will have to vote on the idea before they can make a final decision and Brant still has to have the idea approved by his Boy Scout leaders.
