Mary Margaret Nye, 66, of Ellwood City (Franklin Twp.), formerly of Cumberland Maryland, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, August 21 2016 at the Beaver Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Beaver Falls PA.
Mary was born in New Castle PA on April 25 1950 to the late Donald E. Leydig and the late Betty J. Phillippi Leydig.
Mary Margaret graduated from the Western Pennsylvania School for the Blind in Pittsburgh, and had some college credits. She later worked a vending service in Washington PA.
She belonged to Word Alive Church in Ellwood City, the Beaver County Association for the Blind in Beaver Falls, the Lighthouse for the Blind in New Brighton, and the Riverside Lions Club.
Mary loved reading and swimming, and listened daily to the Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers and Penguins.
She really enjoyed life.
Mary Margaret married Donald L. Nye on June 8 2002. He survives at home.
She is also survived by her mother-in-law: Wanda M. Freshcorn Nye of Beaver Falls (North Sewickley), and one brother-in-law, and 2 sisters-in-law. Numerous cousins also survive.
Friends will be received from 11 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 23 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME OF ELLWOOD CITY, 500 Sixth Street. Services will be conducted at TURNERS on Tuesday at 1:00 P.M. with the Rev. Marvin Mayle of Word Alive Church, officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Marks Lutheran Cemetery, Franklin Twp.
