Tuesday, July 5, at 10:00 a.m. — “Jump Start to Kindergarten,” a five-week program designed for children entering kindergarten in the fall. Featured are stories, activities, games and more centering on the theme of kindergarten readiness. Registration is required so call the library at 724-758-6458 for more information.
Tuesday, July 5, at 6:30 p.m. — “Family Laptime,” an interactive program designed for babies as young as 6 months old through preschool age. Featured are stories, songs, finger plays and more. The summer session runs for six weeks, so call now for more information or to register. Another session of Family Laptime will be held in the fall.
Wednesday, July 6, at 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. — Weekly Summer Reading Programs for children who have completed kindergarten through 3rd grade. Youngsters in kindergarten and 1st grade will meet at 10:00 a.m. and those in 2nd and 3rd grades will meet at 11:00 a.m. Featured are stories, activities, games and much more. Call the library to register or for more information.
Wednesday, July 6, at 6:30 p.m. – Evening Book Discussion Group for Adults. The group will discuss the book, “Bittersweet,” by Miranda Beverly-Whittemore. Call the library for more information.
Thursday, July 7, at 10:00 a.m. — “Puppet Theater Workshop” is already under way for students in 4th grade and up who have registered for the program. This group meets weekly and finishes the summer with performances for family members, friends and other children participating in the Summer Reading Program.
Thursday, July 7, at 12:00 Noon – “Hooked on Books,” a book discussion group for students in 6th grade and up. The group will discuss the book, “Lion Boy,” by Zizou Corder. Call the library for more information.
Thursday, July 7, at 6:30 p.m. – “Family Movie Night,” featuring a full-length feature film. The event is free and open to all area children and their families. Since this is a family night event, all children must be accompanied by an adult. Call the library for more information or to discover the title of the film to be shown.
“Movie Night for Adults.” These movie nights are held monthly and feature new-to-DVD films. All area adults are welcome to attend at no charge. Refreshments are served. The next movie night is scheduled for Wednesday, July 27 at 6:00 p.m. Call the library for more information or to find out the title of the movie to be shown.
