Friday, July 1- Community Day
12:30 p.m. Wine & Spirit
Perennial festival performers Wine & Spirit will open the musical acts on Friday.
“I’ve lost count of how many times we’ve played at the festival,” vocalist and guitarist Paul Joseph said. “We are always excited to be part of the festival as Ellwoodians. There’s a great community aspect of Ellwood with the summer concert series and parades. We’re hoping the Ellwood music scene influences younger people.”
Band Bio:
For nearly a decade, Wine & Spirit has been rocking out the back woods and valleys of Western Pennsylvania and has produced three albums since the band formed in 2006 on the grounds of Slippery Rock University. Frontman Paul Joseph and bassist Derek Ruby started playing together at Lincoln High School and once in college, expanded Wine & Spirit into a full band. This winter, they welcomed new drummer Adam Parrott.
The self-titled album “Wine & Spirit” launched the group to play at well-known venues such as The Altar Bar, Mr. Smalls Theater and even the old Star Lake Amphitheater in Station Square. In 2012, Wine & Spirit was crowned the winner of the X Winter Rock Showcase sponsored by Clear Channel’s 105.9 FM WXDX.
Wine & Spirit released their third album “Against All Odds” in March 2013 at Pittsburgh’s Hard Rock Cafe. “Against All Odds” can now be heard on radio stations across Lawrence, Butler, Beaver and Allegheny counties.
From being an immature collegiate group study to a bunch of millennial rock junkies with a rock ‘n’ roll attitude, they currently released their new single “Snake Eyes” for the 2015 year and making way for their upcoming fourth album this summer. Until then, see Wine & Spirit, feel Wine & Spirit, and dance!
