Wire-tapping in the workplace
A Beaver man was accused of recording six coworkers in his office without their knowledge. According to the criminal complaint, on March 8, the victims confronted defendant Thomas Michael Greene, 55, when they heard their voices coming from his pocket. Greene informed police that he had misunderstood advice from his lawyer and was unaware the recorder was playing. He was arraigned before Magistrate Jerry Cartwright and accused of intercepting oral communication with a portable voice recorder.
Stealing Cash from Car
According to the criminal complaint, Andrew Leon Mercado, 29, of Koppel, is accused of stealing $150 in cash from the victim’s car. On May 8, the victim placed the cash in the center console of his car and went to Fox Street in Wayne Township. While there, he saw Mercado “backing out” of his vehicle. Afterward, the victim’s cash was missing. Mercado is accused of theft from a motor vehicle.
Intent to Deliver Marijuana
According to the criminal complaint, on May 6 an officer conducted a traffic stop at Uni-Mart on Beaver Avenue for failure to use a turn signal. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Justin Troy Haswell, 22, of Ellwood City, who admitted to not having a valid driver’s license. He appeared to be under the influence of marijuana, and the officer could smell an “overwhelming odor” of marijuana emanating from the car. Investigating officers seized a tobacco can with suspected marijuana residue, a suspected marijuana cigarette, a clear plastic wrap containing approximately 1 gram of marijuana and a baggie containing 15 grams of marijuana. Haswell was charged with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and a summary offense for driving without a license.
