Pennsylvania American Water will begin two replacement projects in the third week of May, weather permitting.
The first project will replace 3000 feet of aging water main along College Street, Clover Avenue and First Avenue. Currently, the area is served by a four and six inch cast iron main that was installed during the late 1920’s and recently has been the source of several service disruptions. The company will be installing 12 inch ductile iron mains which will improve service reliability and increase flows for firefighting.
The $535,000 project will also include replacing approximately 60 company-owned service connections with new copper pipe. Final restoration and paving will be performed following the completion of the project. Final restoration can not be completed until all services are transferred to the new main and the old main retired.
The other project will replace 300 feet of aging water main along Cedar Street weather permitting the third week in May. Currently, the area is served by a four inch cast iron main that was installed during the late 1920’s and recently has been the source of several service disruptions. The company will be installing eight inch ductile iron mains which will improve service reliability and increase flows for firefighting.
The $75,000 project will also include replacing approximately two company-owned service connections with new copper pipe. Final restoration and paving will be performed following the completion of the project. Final restoration can not be completed until all services are transferred to the new main and the old main retired.
The proposed completion date of both projects, including restoration, is late summer, 2016.
The improvement projects help us ensure that you are receiving the highest quality water and service at the best possible value. Every attempt will be made to keep disruption to a minimum during the construction period.
