Community College of Beaver County Receives International Creative Awards

Monaca – Community College of Beaver County’s marketing department is the recent recipient of three Hermes Creative Awards, an international competition for creative professionals involved in the concept, writing and design of traditional materials and programs, and emerging technologies.

The awards are administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. The international organization consists of several thousand marketing, communication, advertising, public relations, media production, web and free-lance professionals. The Association oversees awards and recognition programs, provides judges, and sets standards for excellence. The competition has grown to one of the largest of its kind in the world.

All entries submitted by CCBC received some level of distinction. The College’s microsite (ccbc.edu/partnership), which focuses on partnership opportunities, received the highest award presented, the Platinum, while the CCBC Foundation’s microsite for the Employee Giving Campaign (ccbc.edu/employeegiving) received an Honorable Mention.

“Our ability to build sites in-house that not only look great but also help us connect with potential students, industry leaders, and future partners is what makes the CCBC marketing team award winning,” said Scot Rutledge, Digital Marketing Services Manager, who led the development of the sites. “Each member of the marketing team brings elements that break the mold of traditional marketing and increase awareness of the opportunities available at CCBC to everyone in our community and region.”

In the Pro Bono category, a Gold award was received for design work created by the College’s graphics specialist, Megan Cassioli, for a special fundraiser event for the American Association of University Women (AAUW).

“As CCBC continues to gain local and national recognition for its high quality academics and innovative partnerships, I am proud to say that we are producing creative marketing solutions at the same level that rivals large companies from across the United States and the world,” Leslie Tennant, Executive Director of Marketing, Community Relations and Advancement, said.

The competition is so well respected in the industry that national public relations organizations, local ad clubs, and local business communicator chapters are entrants.

“A look at the winners shows a range in size from individual communicators to media conglomerates and Fortune 500 companies,” Tennant said. “We are honored to be among such an elite group of recipients as we share CCBC’s story in unique and cutting-edge ways.”
