Vesta Marie “Cindy” Best, 94, formerly of South Tower Road, Fombell, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Evergreen Nursing Center in Harmony on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016.
She was born on the family farm in North Sewickley on Sept. 1, 1921 to the late Samuel O. Swick and the late Edna Boswell Swick. She attended Beaver Falls High School, and was a longtime member of Lillyville Church of God. Vesta enjoyed crossword puzzles but most of all, her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 40 years, Harvey M. Best, on June 20, 1983. The last of her family, she was also preceded by four sisters and three brothers: Lena Crans, Dorothy Ritter, Marjorie Sokoloski, Eliza June Domhoff, Samuel Swick, Jr. (in infancy), Calvin Swick, and Herbert Swick.
She is survived by her son, David S. (and Mary) Best of Fombell, and her daughter, Linda M. (and Dennis) Ault of New Galilee. Six grandchildren survive: Jeffrey (and Ann) Best, Adam Best (and April ), Mark (and Jeannie) Barnes, Rhonda (and Keith) Breuer, Sherry (and Tom) Lewis, and Heidi (and Charles) Kulinski; as well as nine great-grandchildren: Ava, Owen, Kiersten, Isabella, Benjamin, Aaron, Chad, Alea, and Michael. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Lillyville Church of God, 408 Hickernell Road, Ellwood City, PA 16117, with Rev. Dennis Arndt, her pastor, officiating.
Interment will be in the Lillyville Church of God Cemetery, Franklin Township.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Turner Funeral Home of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in Vesta’s name to Lillyville Church of God or to the donor’s favorite charity.
