North Sewickley Township – At the Valli Victory Kickoff Rally, Dawnlyn Valli together with friends, family and supporters announced her intention to run for PA State Representative in the 10th District, which includes parts of Beaver, Butler and Lawrence Counties. This district has been held by a Democrat for several decades and continued promises of local community revitalization, economic prosperity and a better life for its citizens have fallen short year in, year out.
“As an educator for 23 years, I’ve been in the classroom working with students and fellow teachers,” Valli said. “I have a unique perspective, and it’s different from the Governor’s to say the least.”
Valli believes that we need to invest in our classrooms to make sure that we prepare our students for the job market they will face when they come out of school. At the same time, we must make these investments without bankrupting taxpayers.
“Unfortunately, Governor Wolf’s solutions to the challenges facing Pennsylvania is always the same – higher taxes,” Valli said. “Instead, I think we need to look at cost savings and other revenues before we ask taxpayers for a single dime.”
Valli, and her husband, Bill, put down roots in North Sewickley Township to raise their two children near family. As her children graduated and moved on to their next phase in life, Valli is ready and committed to carry the voice of the people in the 10th District to Harrisburg. Valli believes that representing our local communities is an honor and civic duty.
“For me running for state representative is simple – my job is take our values to Harrisburg and fight every day as hard as I can,” Valli said. “I will be an advocate for fiscal responsibility, job creation and I’ll do everything I can to help our energy sector grow.”
Valli will also fight for fiscal responsibility and for the taxpayers, not a political party or ideology.
“We need grown ups in Harrisburg. That’s one of the big reasons I am running,” Valli said. “My first day there I will introduce a bill that says no pay for legislators unless we meet our constitutional duty of passing a budget on June 30.”
“I’m not running for office because I want to be a career politician,” Valli said. “Instead I want to use my real life experience to fight for a better, stronger community. I truly am one of us that will fight for us.”
