Dr. Allen Clinton Struble Jr., 91, of North Sewickley Twp. passed away Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016 at his home under the care of Vitas Hospice.
Born Jan. 18, 1924 in Masury, Ohio, he was the son of the late Allen C. and Celia Edwards Struble Sr. He was married on Dec. 3, 1996 in Kona, Hawaii to Dawn Ray Struble, who survives.
Dr. Struble practiced Podiatry in Ellwood City for 48 years. He received his Pre-Med Degree from Ohio State University in 1949 and then continued his education at the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine earning his Doctorate Degree in 1953. Dr. Struble served in the US Air Force Medical Corps during WWII.
Active in community service, he served on the Ellwood City School Board, the Wayne Twp. Municipal Authority, and the Lawrence County Mental Health Board. He was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. He also enjoyed singing with the Lawrence and Mercer County Barbershop Singers for over 25 years. He was a member of the Jerusalem Masonic Lodge # 19 in Hartford, Ohio for 65 years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post for 44 years and was a former Boy Scout Leader.
In addition to his wife, Dawn, survivors include a daughter, Candace (Kurt) Hunter of Circleville, Ohio; son, Dale M. (Nancy) Struble of Dayton, Ohio; two step daughters, Tracy Ludwig of Ellwood City, Gwen (Dave) Matricardi of Pulaski; brother, Paul (Martha) Struble of Golden, Colorado; mother in law, Marie Ray of Alliance, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Evelyn Becker, Katharine Hunter, Natalie Struble, Celia Agudela, Julianna Struble, Cody Ludwig, Chris Ludwig, Shauna Shidemantle; and four great-grandchildren, Leah and Lucy Becker, Caelyn Ludwig, and Christian Newmaster.
He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of Dale and Candy, Evelyn Struble, and a daughter, Karen Struble Badurina who passed away May 8, 2004.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, Jan. 23 from noon until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City.
His pastor, Rev. Patricia Cleary and Chaplain Keith Black of Vitas Hospice will officiate the services. Military services will be conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will follow in the Brookfield Cemetery in Brookfield, Ohio.
