Despite a shaky start to the season, the Ellwood City Wolverines are on the path to a winning season. The Wolverines collected their fourth win on Senior Night against Laurel with a final score of 50-13.
Twelve seniors: Carlo Agostinelli, Tyler Ballard, Justin Baney, DJ Barrett, Devin Cortez, James Cunningham, David Deloia, Adam Foreman, Logan Gibbons, Nick Ioanilli, Keanu Jefferson, and River Kelly, were honored at halftime.
The Wolverines powered through the first half, with runs by Ioanilli, Barrett, and Kelly. This, along with a safety by Kelly and two extra points by Justin Baney, brought the halftime score to 30-0.
Laurel got two touchdowns and an extra kick in the second half, which wasn’t nearly enough to make a comeback.
In the third quarter, Barrett, Ballard, and Ioanilli ran for touchdowns, topped off with two kicks by Cortez.
Going into late game with a score of 50-6, the Wolverines didn’t score in the 4th quarter and Laurel brought in a touchdown with two and a half minutes on the clock.
Ellwood City is now 4-4. The final game will be away against Beaver.
