Gertrude M. Kingston, 92, of NorthView Estates, Ellwood City, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, Oct. 19, 2015 at the Ellwood City Hospital.
She was born in Renfrew, Pa. on May 13, 1923 to the late Frank C. Stubbel and the late Elizabeth Nicolaus Stubbel. She married the late Giles D. Kingston on June 30, 1941. He preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 1975. She attended Lincoln High School and was a member of Holy Redeemer Parish Church (formerly St. Agatha). She was active for several years in Christian Daughters of America, Christian Mothers, the American Legion in Wampum, Ladies of the Moose #442 of Ellwood City, the Eagles in New Castle and the VFW Auxiliary in New Galilee
In addition to her parents and husband, Gertrude was preceded in death by her son Gregory C. Kingston, on Aug. 11, 2007, her son-in-law, William Soski in August of 1997 and her daughter-in-law, Judy Barnett Kingston in August of 2011. The last of her family, she was also preceded by two brothers and two sisters: Crawford and Albert Stubbel, Ruth Shiderly and Dorothy Streit.
She is survived by one daughter and three sons: Patricia Soski (and Eugene Bischoff) of Koppel, Donald L. (and Marianne) Kingston of Gettysburg, Pa., Dennis P. (and Linda “Sue”) Kingston of Finleyville, Pa., and David E. (and Beth) Kingston of Ellwood City, and her daughter-in-law, Linda L. Kingston in Ariz. Fourteen grandchildren also survive: Stephanie (and Mark) Buck, Donald (and Beth) Kingston, Jr., Kevin (and Lara) Kingston, Paul (and Liz) Kingston, Tiffany (and Michael) Linhart, Todd Kingston, Gregory (and Nicole) Kingston, Jr., Jeff Kingston, Bethany (and Michael) Melton, Leslie (and James) Kessler, Brianna Kingston, Ryan Kingston, and Harmony and Garrison Kasper, as well as 10 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 5 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015 in the Turner Funeral Home of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 23, 2015 at Holy Redeemer Parish Church, 415 Fourth Street, Ellwood City, PA 16117, with Rev. Fr. Mark Thomas, pastor, officiating.
Those attending the mass are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. the morning of the service as the procession to the church will depart at 9:45. Interment will follow in Holy Redeemer Parish Cemetery, North Sewickley Township.
Memorials may be made in her name to the Ellwood City Library, VITAS Hospice or to the donor’s favorite charity.
