Game Zone Close-Out Sale

Seven years ago, Ryan Venezie introduced the gaming world to the Ellwood City community when he opened his Game Zone store. The business immediately took off at its Fifth Street location backed by a thriving economy.

“Ellwood City had nothing like this at the time,” Venezie said.

With the store being such a success, Venezie soon decided to move his business to a more prime location. His father, Keith, had recently purchased the emporium to revamp into the City Centre Shops. The opportunity for a move was nearly staring Venezie right in the face.

The City Centre Shops, located on Lawrence Avenue, gave Game Zone the edge for business by being on the main street of Ellwood City. Sadly, the gaming industry took a turn for worse, way out of Venezie’s control.

A new trend of digital downloads has made purchasing games from the comfort of a customer’s own home possible, hurting small local stores like Game Zone. The change has even affected larger gaming chains, who are now responsible for adding to their product lines to stay afloat.

In an attempt to give all of the store’s games a good home, Game Zone will be hosting a huge closing sale that will run from Tuesday, May 27 through Friday, June 13. Specials will include 50 percent off all used games and 25 percent off all new games. If anyone is interested in buying in bulk, deals will be negotiable.

“Our main goal is reducing inventory levels,” Venezie said. “It is time for us to move forward in another direction.”

Research is currently underway for a new use of the Game Zone space, but no plans are set in stone.

For now, City Centre Shops will be open to the public to rent as a bargain banquet venue. The area is perfect for any kind of party, holding up to 100 people for an extremely affordable cost.
