Ruth L. Johnson, 93, of Ellwood City, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 20 2017 at NorthView Estates in Ellwood City.
She was born in North Sewickley Township on June 19 1923 to the late Frank and Eva Boots Gallaher.
Ruth graduated from Lincoln High School in Ellwood City.
She worked at the former Ellwood Works of US Steel Corp. as a typist in the offices.
Ruth was a longtime member of the First Christian Church of Ellwood City.
She enjoyed music and reading.
Ruth was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Raymond M. Johnson, whom she married on February 26 1948. He passed away on February 3 2013.
She is survived by two sons and one daughter: David Johnson; Marshall Johnson; and Karen (and Gary) Brandes, all of Ellwood City.
Three grandchildren survive, as well as six great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.
One sister, Dorothy (and Eugene) Monks in Indiana, also survives.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Lois Drenberg.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. on Tuesday, May 23 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME, 500 Sixth Street, Ellwood City.
Funeral services will be conducted at TURNERS on Wednesday, May 24 at 11:00 A.M. with Mr. Thomas A. O’Brien, minister of First Christian Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Daugherty Twp.
Memorial donations may be made in her name to the First Christian Church, 101 Ada Drive, Ellwood City PA 16117.
