Hospital Zoning District Vote To Be Held In May

During a public hearing Monday night, Ellwood City Council voted to advertise an amendment to the zoning ordinance and map regarding the Ellwood City Medical Center. A formal vote to create a zoning district could come as early as the May 20 council meeting. Ellwood City’s mayor Anthony Court was recently named Vice President of the Association of Mayors of the Boroughs of Pennsylvania (AMBP). Court, 61, who has served as mayor for 13 years said he is proud to have been chosen for the role. He was raised in Ellwood City with his three sisters Luisa, Angela, and Margherita. Shirley Mae Shoaf, 77, of North Beaver Twp. passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at the Edison Manor following an extended illness. Born March 6, 1942 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Mabel Stimple Brunswick. Shirley retired from the Overlook Medical Clinic where she was an LPN for over 50 years. Aliquippa Man Convicted Of Assault In A Stabbing Case An Aliquippa man that was accused of stabbing another man after a fight in Aliquippa, has been convicted of assault. A jury found Carl Zedak, 52, guilty of aggravated assault and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. However, he was found not guilty of attempted homicide and possession of an instrument of crime, according to court records. This verdict was announced on Thursday. Toxic Trash Disposal Day Announced For Franklin & Marion Townships

Residents living in the Franklin and Marion Townships will be able to drop off their household hazardous and electronic waste “the right way” on Saturday, April 6 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Those who wish to participate can drop their items off at the Franklin Township Municipal Building. Potential New Drug Testing Policy At Riverside

On Monday, the Riverside community gathered in the Riverside High School cafeteria for an Informational Night for parents. The topic of discussion was Riverside’s possible new Drug Testing Policy. Parents with children in all grades came out to give their opinion on the subject at matter, and while some seemed to support it, the rest had more questions rather than support. The policy would target Riverside students in grades 7 through 12. Caesar W. Craine, 86, of Ellwood City was called home Thursday, March 7, 2019 from the Ellwood City Medical Center. Born August 3, 1932 in Wampum, he was the son of the late Wyatt Craine and Era Craine Allen. He was also preceded in death by his step son in law, Leonard Hill; a brother, Coy Allen, and four sisters, Dorothy Etta Daniels, Iona Bernard, Helen Elizabeth Craine, and Sarah Lee Eady. Project Educate will be hosting a complimentary workshop on little to big traumas and how to transcend them.
