Dr. Mary Ann DiBiagio-Suppa, 61, of Ellwood City, Pennsylvania passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2019 at Allegheny General Hospital with her family by her side. Beaver County Hazardous Waste Collection Date Announced

Safely dispose of common household chemicals and take advantage of the Beaver County Hazardous Waste Collection event that is scheduled for Saturday, October 12, 2019. The collection takes place at Bradys Run Park Recycling Center in Brighton Township and is scheduled from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.  The fee is $3.00/gallon (a few exceptions) and is cash only. Randall “Randy” C. Syphrit, 52, of Ellwood City, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 21, 2019.  Born on May 16, 1967, Randy was the son of Thomas and Shirley (Hollinback) Syphrit.  He married the former Lori Toland on April 30, 1994. Council Votes to Amend Hospital Zoning Ordinance

In a unanimous vote, Ellwood City Council voted on August 19 to amend the hospital/medical district zoning ordinance that they originally passed in May. The proposed amendment will be sent to the borough and Lawrence County planning commissions for review. The amendment adds to the definition of “Health Services” “facilities and residences included in a continuum of care entity.” Borough Manager David Allen said the wording basically boiled down to nursing homes. Roberta M. Fatula,  94, of  Ellwood City,  passed away on Friday, August 9, 2019 at the Ellwood City Medical Center. Roberta was born on June 13, 1925 to the late Hugh and Mary Pollack Maxwell.  She was married  first to the late Floyd Thorpe and later to the late James J. Fatula. Roberta was a 1945 graduate of the Allegheny General Hospital Nursing School and was a retired Registered Nurse for many years working at Drs. Barbara K. Tepsich, 72, of Shenango Twp. (formerly of Boyd School Rd.,Wampum) passed away Thursday, August 8, 2019 at The Grove of New Castle following a lengthy illness. Born June 6, 1947 in Monaca, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Hope (Webster) Piersol. She was also preceded in death by a brother, James D. Piersol. BC3’s Highest Number Of High School Equivalency Graduates

(Butler, PA) Butler County Community College’s free adult literacy program July 24 will graduate 60 students from Butler and Mercer counties with high school equivalency diplomas, the most since at least the 2007-2008 fiscal year, the director of the 33-year-old program said.
