EC Historical Society Announces Scholarship Winners

The Ellwood City Area Historical Society awarded its Annual Robert and Janice Barensfeld Scholarship Awards to Emily Ann Borroni and Hayden Christopher Panek at a meeting Wednesday May 5th. The meeting was opened by Everett Bleakney, president of the Society. He first explained the appreciation of all who had entered essays to be judged. Bleakney stated that the History Society was blessed to be able to continue giving these awards. To date, the History Center has awarded $69,000.00 to deserving graduating students pursuing higher education. Joseph Colavecchia, 83, of Ellwood City, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Good Samaritan Hospice. Born on February 5, 1938 in the Village of Limosano, in the Province of Campobasso in the southern Italian region Molise he was the son of the late Frank and Josephine Giancola Colavecchia. INDECENT EXPOSURE: Michael Hill, 18, of Wampum, is charged with indecent exposure on February 14th in Wayne Township. According to a criminal complaint, officers responded to a call in Wampum from a juvenuile saying that the man she and her friend were hanging out wih exposed himself. The juvenile who made the call related she left the scene due to the inappropriate and unwanted behavior of Hill. Hill later told offcers that he was just hanging out with his girlfriend and did admit to exposing himself. Ellwood City Man Dies In 2-Vehicle Crash In West Deer Township

An Ellwood City man died in a two-vehicle crash in West Deer on Monday morning. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man on Tuesday as Mark Tedrow, 35. The crash happened shortly after 10 a.m. in the 300 block of Deer Creek Valley Road. Mayor Anthony J. Court, Lawrence County Commissioner Lorretta Spielvogel and the Ellwood City Emergency Management Agency have secured 200 doses of the COVID-19 Vaccine. The vaccine will be distributed Tuesday, March 30, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Location will be at the Crescent Place Nursing Home, located at 630 Crescent Avenue in Ellwood City.
