Old Photo Friday: Time Capsule

This week’s Old Photo Friday is a photo of three men (names not listed) burying a time capsule. The year the photo was taken is stated 1992. There is not much info included with the photo, so we don’t know who the men are, where the capsule is buried (it looks like it’s near the municipal building), or what’s in it, but we would love to know – so comment below or on our Facebook post with any information you might have! Sponsored Trees in Ewing Park

Our journalist took a stroll in Ewing Park yesterday and noticed several of the sponsored Christmas trees have been decorated in preparation of this weekend. About the Christmas events: “Let There Be Lights Weekend” begins at 6 p.m. Dec. 1. The festival will include vendors, entertainment, horse and trolley rides, reindeer, fireworks and the lighting of the Christmas tree. After the festivities, “A Christmas Story” will be shown in the Lincoln High School auditorium at 8:15 p.m. A Christmas parade, with special guest Santa Claus, begins at 3:30 p.m. Dec. 2 on Lawrence Avenue. SPOILER ALERT: House Tour Event Features Local Church

The Ellwood City Municipal Woman’s House Tour features something a little different this year – a church! Trinity Lutheran Church will be part of the tour, and it is truly a magical sight to say the least. From the aw-inspiring stained glass windows to the realistic decorative organ pipes, the Christmas decor adds an appropriate accenting holiday atmosphere. SPOILER ALERT: House Tour Home Features Musical Theme

One of the Ellwood City Municipal Women House Tour homes, the Leavens household, located at 405 Pershing St., in Ellwood City, is the second home on the list to be decorated for the event. PHOTOS: Ten Adorn 30-Foot Christmas Tree with 5,000 Lights, 300 Ornaments

Members of the Ellwood City Area Chamber of Commerce and others on Friday adorned a 30-foot blue spruce Christmas tree in the Community Plaza with 5,000 lights and 300 ornaments in preparation for Ellwood City’s “Let There Be Lights Weekend.” Raymond Santillo, the chamber’s executive director; Caroline Golmic, chamber president; and Jillian Court, chamber executive assistant; worked to decorate the tree donated by INMETCO, as did Ron Freehauf, of Ohioville; Russell Barge, of Wampum; Anthony Mazzant, of New Castle; Ellwood City residents Jen Eller, Ashley Smith and Ashley Jubach; and Shelley Collins, of Lynchburg, Va. “Let There Be Lights Weekend”…

PHOTOS: Ellwood City Man Donates Hair to Keep Mom’s Legacy Going

Bryan Linville is more than just a resident of Ellwood City, he is the son of a woman who lost her battle to ovarian cancer and a father to two children who he wants to inspire the same way his mother inspired him. “She worked with kids who had autism, she had a really kind heart and always wanted to help people,” he said. “I want to help kids in the same way she helped them and I want my own kids to remember me the way I remember her.” Linville’s mother was battling stage four ovarian cancer for almost…

SPOILER ALERT: House Tour Home Features Dr. Seuss Christmas Tree

One of the Ellwood City Municipal Women House Tour homes, the Bissell household, located at 3302 River Road in Ellwood City, is the first home on the list to be decorated for the event. Though the family still has a few decorations to finish putting up, the majority of work has been completed. From flamboyant nutcrackers to a surfin’ Santa, home owner Teresa Bissell stated that her favorite decoration is the Dr. Seuss tree. The Ellwood City Kitchen Cabinet is wasting no time getting their decorations ready for the Let There Be Lights weekend on December 2. A small display has already been placed by the organization along with some other accenting decor along the roadside. We can’t wait to see all of the decorations!
