Ellwood Police Identify Hit And Run Suspect

According a social media post made by the The Ellwood City Police Department on Monday morning, the police posted a recent update on a hit and run incident and have identified the operator/vehicle owner. The post reads as follows: As of 12:00 p.m., the persons involved in this hit & run motor vehicle accident have been located. The investigation will be completed and the incident will be closed. New Brighton Historical Society Receives Grant Says Bernstine

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC) awarded a $25,000 grant to the New Brighton Historical Society in Beaver County, announced Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence). “The society provides a valuable service to our residents and the state grant will go toward preserving the history and heritage of Beaver County, which dates back more than 50 years,” said Bernstine. “It is very satisfying to know that we are giving a significant piece of local history a new, fresh look. Ellwood City Board Of Directors Meeting Scheduled

The Ellwood City Area School Board of Directors has scheduled a meeting a Special Board Meeting. The meeting will take place on June 24th, 2021 and will begin a 7:00 p.m. The meeting is scheduled for the purpose of approving the Act 93 contract, other contracts, and any other general business purposes that may come before the board. This meeting will be held in the Lincoln Jr./Sr. High School Board Room.


100th Anniversary of Ewing Park Baseball Complex This Friday

The Ewing Park Baseball Complex will mark its’ 100th anniversary on Friday, June 18. On this day in 1921, the first baseball game was played at the newly-constructed Ewing Park Baseball Field. On that Saturday afternoon, the Ellwood City Shelby county league team defeated Hubbard, Ohio, 20-9. Steel Production Underway at Tenaris’s First Melt Shop In Koppel

Steel production is now underway at Tenaris’s first melt shop in the United States that will soon supply steel bars for its seamless pipe mills in the States and Canada. BC3 Expands College Within The High School Progam

(Butler, PA) Eligible sophomores through seniors from any high school this fall can earn affordable, transferrable college credits through remote-instruction courses offered by a Butler County Community College program. BC3’s College Within the High School program will offer five three-credit courses during afternoons and evenings. College algebra, college writing, general psychology, intermediate algebra and productivity applications can be taken by “any student, anywhere,” said Erin Cioffi, BC3’s assistant director of high school programming. Ellwood City Man Sustains Injuries In Motorcycle Accident

PA State Police in New Castle responded to a motorcycle accident in Wayne Township on Sunday, June 6th on Wampum Road around 11:30 p.m. The officers responded to an accident in which a 2015 Harley Davidson motorcycle had struck a guardrail on the right side of the roadway on Wampum Road. According to the preliminary investigation, the motorcycle, driven by 65 year old Keith Shaffer of Ellwood City, was traveling east on Wampum Road when he went off the roadway to the right, struck a residence sign, and then struck a guardrail with a mailbox fixed behind it. Lincoln High Senior Receives The Holy Redeemer Social Club Scholarship

Emily Borroni, a senior at Lincoln High School was awarded the Holy Redeemer Social Club Scholarship on May 24th at the organization’s monthly meeting. Emily, the daughter of Jeff and Stephanie Borroni of Ellwood City, was presented with the award by President John Pansera. The $1,000.00 scholarship is presented to a graduation senior and member of the parish who provides superior service to her parish, community and school. Lincoln High School Class of 1951 Holds 70th Reunion

On May 20th, the 70th Reunion of the Class of 1951 had their Luncheon. There were 256 in the graduating class. There are 80 former students still with us today and they will be turning 88 this year. There were 15 people in attendance. Eleanor Chima Irwin came from Pittsburgh, Bob Evans came from Greensburg, and Dr. Ray Colavincenzo came from Pittsburgh.
