Class of ’57 To Hold Informational Luncheon

The Lincoln High School Class of 1957 will hold an informal gathering and luncheon Monday, August 23, at Vinny’s Restaurant on Beaver Ave. in Ellwood City. Classmates and guests will gather beginning at noon.  A buffet, at $30.00 per person, will follow. Franklin Township To Host 8th Annual National Night Out Event

Come on down! Franklin Township will be holding their 8th Annual National Night Out Event on Tuesday, August 3rd, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Franklin Plaza in Ellwood City. There will be free activities for children, fire safety, CPR training, prize giveaways, and food vendors. There will be approximately 40 vendors for the event. Mayor Anthony J. Court announced the final winner of the 2021 Beautification Award. The winner is Dot Mars Corbin of First Avenue. “Dot did an excellent job and her hard work did not go unnoticed! 70th Ellwood City Little League Tournament To Begin Tonight

BATTER UP! The 70th Ellwood City Little League Tournament will begin on Tuesday night at Freidhoff Field. The tournament, which began in 1952, is the second oldest Little League tournament in the country next to the Little League World Series which is in its’ 74th season. Ellwood City will meet Neshannock at 6:00 PM and Riverside will meet Shenango at 8:00 PM. Ellwood City has won the last two titles with a 10-8 victory over Riverside last season and a 4-2 win over Mars in 2019. Ellwood City has the most championships with 14. Prospective Students Can Learn About BC3 @ Lawrence Crossing At Summer Open House

New Castle, PA) A summer open house Aug. 2 will introduce prospective students to BC3 @ Lawrence Crossing’s selection of 19 associate degree and certificate programs, its affordability compared to other regional colleges and universities and the transferability of its credits. The open house is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 2849 W. State St., New Castle. In a public meeting notice announcement, the Ellwood City Area School District and its Board of Directors have changed the meeting scheduled on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. from a Committee Meeting to a combined Committee Meeting and General Purpose Meeting of the Board to fill the vacancy on the board and for any other general business purposes that may come before the Board. In an effort to maximize the collection of its unpaid school real estate taxes, Ellwood City Area School District has hired the law firm of Portnoff Law Associates, Ltd. to collect its delinquent accounts. Representing over 160 municipalities and school districts across Pennsylvania, Portnoff utilizes state law that allows for the costs of collection to be imposed upon the delinquent property owner, creating immediate incentive to make payment and reducing the burden of collection costs on the overall tax base. Master Gardeners Host Annual Garden Tour

The Penn State Master Gardeners of Lawrence County are hosting their Fourth Annual Garden Tour on Sunday, July 18th from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The tour highlights four area gardens, which can be toured at your own pace. Master Gardeners will be available at each location to answer questions. Each garden will provide an opportunity to view different styles of gardens, a chance to talk to the creators of these gardens and get their input on their gardening experiences, and talk to Penn State Master Gardeners from Lawrence County.
