BC3 Begins To Raze Two Buildings In Preparation For High-Tech Nine Million Dollar Facility

(Butler, PA) With repeated swipes of its five 6-inch steel teeth at the end of its outstretched 38-foot-long arm, an excavator Thursday morning began to shred the roofing and tear through walls of two buildings at Butler County Community College in preparation for the construction of the college’s $9 million, state-of-the-art Victor K. Phillips Nursing and Allied Health Building. TERRORISTIC THREATS James Urbanic, 71, of Ellwood City, was charged with making Terroristic Threats on July 5th in Ellwood City. Police received a report of terroristic threats and upon arrival of the scene, the victim stated that Urbanic and himself were in a dispute over property on Tara Drive and Hickernell Road. During the dispute, the victim claimed Urbanic made numerous threats and then proceeded to enter his garage to retrieve what was later identified as a shotgun and loaded it in view of the victim and pointed it at the victim for several seconds. BC3 Gets State Approval To Launch Practical Nursing Program

(Butler, PA) The Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing has authorized Butler County Community College to create a practical nursing program on BC3’s main campus, an approval that will enable the college to prepare students for the high-priority occupation in western Pennsylvania. The college in June 2020 announced its plan to establish the program as a result of an up to $10 million partnership with Concordia Lutheran Ministries, a Cabot-based health care provider. Mayor Court Swears In New Full Time Police Officer

Mayor Anthony J. Court swore in Police Officer James Cunningham into the Ellwood City Police Department. The new officer was sworn in at Mayor Court’s office on August 3, 2021. Officer Cunningham is now a full-time officer. The Ellwood City Police Department  now has 11 full-time officers and 3 part-time officers in the department. RESULTS: 2021 Delmar Golf Course Championship

The annual Delmar Golf Course Club Championship was held Saturday July 31, and Sunday August 1, 2021, which consisted of over 40 Delmar members. Here are the results from the 2021 Championship. Lino Simeoni collected his 2nd title with a 2 and 1 victory over Brad Linville in the championship bracket. Ellwood City golf team Senior and team Captain Milo Sesti claimed the A-Flight championship with a 3 and 2 victory over Rosie Tammaro. Beaver County Man Admits Lying on Firearms Purchase Forms

PITTSBURGH, PA – A resident of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, has pled guilty to a charge of making a false statement to purchase firearms, Acting United States Attorney Stephen R. Kaufman announced this last week. Calvin Brady Jr, age 24, plead guilty before Judge David S. Cercone on July 29, 2021. In connection with the guilty plea, the court was advised that on December 12, 2020, the Brady Jr. purchased four Taurus, model GC3, 9mm caliber pistols from Rural King Holdings LLP, a federal firearm licensee in Monaca, PA. Riverside Claims 70th Ellwood City Little League Tournament

AND THE CHAMPION IS…Riverside downed Ellwood City 3-1 to win the 70th Ellwood City Little League Tournament Sunday night at Freidhoff Field. Dylan Meyer led Riverside to victory with a home run and two RBI’s. This victory gave Riverside their fifth title in the tournament and their first since 2012. Riverside scored two runs in the top of the first inning to take the early lead. With one out, Matthew Santillo singled and moved to second base on a wild pitch. Riverside Lions Help Fix Up Franklin Park

Some members of the Riverside Lions and community volunteers painted the tables at Franklin Park on Monday. Joan Bowser, Jim and Gigi Davies, and Dana Baker, cleaned, scrapped and painted the picnic tables at Franklin Park, Monday July 19th. The Lions provided the paint through a donation from Lenore Bazzichi. Lions members Chip Campbell and Mike Milnes also helped in the project. New Lion member Amy Alexander was also instrumental in the project. The Lions maintain shelters at both Franklin Park and Bradshaw Park in North Sewickley Township. POLICE: Weekly Blotter

RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT: New Castle Police had responded to Reckless Endangerment report near Pollock Store Road in Lawrence County on July 25th. Christopher Rodgers, age 40 from Volant fired two rounds from a shotgun at the victim’s residence. Rodgers has been continually creating loud noises and firing fireworks causing a disturbance in the area. The Pennsylvania State Police New Castle Barracks had been called to the area approximately four times within the last ten days and the actor was for summary disorderly conduct and harassment on July 24th for causing loud noises and a disturbance.
