New Garbage Service To Be Introduced In Franklin Township

According to information made available by the township, Waste Management pulled their dumpsters yesterday at Franklin Township without any notice. Aiken Refuse has agreed to provide the new service. They will be placing two dumpsters next week, but Aiken green bags will need to be purchased to use these dumpsters. Ellwood City Native Receives CoSIDA University Achievement Award

Ellwood City native Doug Tammaro has received the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) University Division Achievement Award. Tammaro, the Arizona State Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations, has been recognized as the top Sports Information Director at the NCAA Division I level as a part of CoSIDA’s weeklong Special Awards announcement. Ellwood City Introduces New Permit Parking For Metered Parking Spaces

In a press release made available by the Borough of Ellwood City, the borough will be introducing a new parking permit that will be usable at on-street, metered parking spaces throughout town, excluding handicap spaces. Upon application for the parking permit, the applicant will pay a $25.00 monthly permit fee.  This new style permit will afford the vehicle owner from having to feed change to the on-street parking meters. Tomak, Wilmington Hockey Upset Bishop Canevin In Overtime

An overtime game-winning goal by Ellwood City’s Drake Tomak propelled the Wilmington hockey team to 2-1 upset victory over Bishop Canevin Thursday night. The loss was only Bishop Canevin’s second of the year which were both at the hands of the Greyhounds. Meals On Wheels Receives Donation From Ellwood City Wolves Club

On Wednesday, February 23, the Ellwood City Wolves Club presented a donation to the Ellwood City Meals on Wheels Program Director Terri Crespo. Terri presented the history of the program which started in at the Calvin United Presbyterian Church. It moved to the Ellwood City Hospital. When the Ellwood City Hospital closed the Calvin United Presbyterian Church again agreed to host the program. The program serves 80 people in the greater Ellwood City area.
