Playoff Bound Wolverines Volleyball Split Matches This Week

The Ellwood City volleyball team split two section matches this week, knocking off Laurel on Thursday after falling to Shenango on the road Tuesday.  The Wolverines record rests at 10-5 Overall and 8-4 WPIAL Section 2A-1, good for a top-four spot in the section that earns the team a playoff berth. On Tuesday, the Wolverines were defeated in five sets by the Wildcats. Upcoming Trunk or Treat Events

Several area churches will be holding Trunk or Treat events as the Halloween holiday approaches. On Sunday, October 22, 2023, North Sewickley Presbyterian Church will hold its fifth annual Trunk or Treat from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in its church parking lot. The church is located at 106 Chapel Drive, Ellwood City, PA 16117, just look for all the decorated cars, costumes and children across from Shakespeare’s Restaurant. Amy Fittinghoff, 66, born April 10, 1957 in Belleville Illinois, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 14, 2023. Amy is survived by her sister Patty Woodrome, niece Lindsey Nicole Woodrome, nephew Taylor Woodrome and his fiancée Keda, great nephew Channing McClure, and many cousins, one she was particularly close to, Sue Bajan. Sewer Upgrade Project on Wampum Avenue Underway

The Borough of Ellwood City has announced the start of the Wampum Avenue Pump Station Project in its effort to improve the infrastructure in the area. A letter was mailed to residents in the affected areas. Construction will take place on Wampum Avenue between Madison Street Ext and Fifth Street Bridge. This project is a sewer upgrade for multiple existing sewer transport lines in the wooded area East of Wampum Ave. A pump station will also be built to collect from these lines to be transported to the Ellwood City Borough Wastewater Treatment Plant for treatment. History is being made at Ellwood City. In a wild offensive showcase Friday night that featured over 100 combined points and 1,000 combined yards of offense by the Wolverines and Lions, another pair of century marks were reached individually by two Ellwood City juniors who combined to lead the Wolverines to a 62-40 victory on Homecoming night. North Sewickley Twp Police Looking For Help Identifying Man

The North Sewickley Township Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying a man they say was loitering and prowling at night. According to police on their Facebook.com Page, the man was seen in the early morning hours Friday, October 6th in the area of Brighton Road. $954K Grant Enables Start-up of Lawrence Mercer Manufacturing Workforce Development Organization

YOUNGSTOWN – The Ohio-Penn Interstate Regional Collaboration received a $954,708 grant from the U.S. Department of Labor in September, which will be used in large part to build out a workforce development coalition serving Lawrence and Mercer County manufacturers. The Ellwood City Boys Cross Country team are undefeated Section Champs! The Wolverines, under the direction of head coach Nate Brown, finished off their cross town rival Riverside 20-39 and Mohawk 23-34 Tuesday afternoon to wrap up their undefeated season.
