The section-leading Neshannock Lancers earned a soggy 42-14 victory Friday night over the host Wolverines as part of Ellwood City Senior Night. The Riverside girls soccer team has qualified for the 2023 WPIAL Playoffs and will set their eyes on opening round opponent – Charleroi – in the Class-A bracket. Annual Richard Hogue Memorial Blood Drive Scheduled For November 21

The annual Richard Hogue Memorial Blood Drive has been announced and scheduled to take place on Tuesday, November 21, 2023. Hogue was only 28 when his life was taken on November 16, 2013. At the time of his death, he resided in Enon Valley, worked for Nick Mars Construction as a carpenter, and was a member of the Ellwood City Eagles Club. SIMPLE ASSAULT: James Hammond, 28, of Wampum, is charged with Simple Assault and Terroristic Threats after an incident on October 14th. According to a criminal complaint, and at approximately 10:20 p.m., PA State Police responded to an inactive domestic altercation at a residence on Guy Way, Wayne Township to be informed a female had been physically attacked by her boyfriend and that he vacated in a grey car. Alice M. Cosentino, 95, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday October 13, 2023. Alice was born on December 9, 1927, to Antoinette Rose Maino and Silvio D. (Sam) Alfonso in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Class of 1945 in Ellwood city. She continued her education at Seton Hill University in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, graduating in 1949 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Home Economics. Natural Gas Odor Forces Brief Evacuation At Lincoln High School

An odor of natural gas detected in a Lincoln High School storage room Thursday morning, forcing a brief evacuation of the high school. This according to the Ellwood City Area School District and superintendent Wes Shipley. “We evacuated the building to Hartman while Columbia Gas and the local fire department investigated,” said Shipley in an emailed statement Friday. Both Columbia Gas and the fire department noted that the levels of gas in the air were minute and were not at an explosive level.
